Apple Posts iPod touch 3.0 Software Update iTunes Page, Then Pulls It

Reportedly, Apple posted the iPod touch 3.0 Software Update iTunes page (by mistake) as early as yesterday, according to MacRumors. The company quickly pulled the page, as it hadn’t yet published the update to its servers. The page in question now shows that Apple has reverted to advertising OS 2.2.While the update should have been made available for both iPhone and iPod touch in the meanwhile, Apple still hasn’t published the IPSW files to its servers. Although posted as early as yesterday, iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw is the appropriate update / restore file for iPhone 3G S handsets, which, unfortunately, cannot be applied to current-generation iPhone and iPod touch models. In fact, iPhone and iPod touch owners are advised not to use the updater at all.By Filip Truta, Apple News Editor
